OVERVIEW

This 1 day tour to Galway from Dublin will bring you to one of the most fascinating cities in Ireland which sits on the wild west coast. Jump aboard our bus and let our experienced, fun guides tell you stories, folklore and tails of old. This fun filled day will also take you to the home of the legendary Irish whiskey at Tullamore Dew, where you will learn the secrets of whiskey making.

After you leave the capital you will be taken across the amazing Irish countryside to the other side of the island. You will pass across Ireland's biggest peat bogs called the 'Bog of Allen' which covers 958 square km and has been the source of natural fuel for thousands of years. Once you reach the Galway City your guide will bring you on a captivating walking tour of the city.

Arguably the best city in Ireland but certainly the most relaxed, Galway is a fascinating, vibrant place with a large young population of locals and students. The city sits at the mouth of Galway Bay and has the ability to attract a weird and wonderful collection of visitors that come again and again as if by magnet. Galway has a mesmerizing mix of hand-craft street stalls and shops which make an assortment of jewellery, knit ware, pottery and woodwork. Local speciality food stalls, street buskers and performers also pay an important part in its unique bohemian atmosphere.

Historically, Galway has lots to offer with many relics from an important medieval past. You will see an interesting mixture of old and modern architecture as you stroll through its meandering streets. Galway City is also home to the famous Claddagh ring which was named after an area that sits just outside the city centre. The ring shows three distinctive symbols together, 'The heart' for love, 'the hands' for friendship and 'the crown' for loyalty. The ring is worn to convey the wearer's relationship status. If you wear the heart towards the wrist, you are unavailable, with the heart towards the fingertips, the wearer is available !

Once you leave this wonderful city your guide will take you to the very centre of Ireland where you will be taken on an extraordinary tour of the old Tullamore Dew whiskey distillery. Here you will learn the secrets of whiskey making and the story behind this world famous Irish Whiskey and maybe have a 'tipple' before you leave. The visitors centre has recently had a multi-million euro make-over and it shows during this hour long journey through the story behind of one of Irelands biggest exports. You can check out the full itinerary in the 'Tour' section of the site.
